I was thinking of a few titles for this post and here are some of them
1) Rainy day...and night
2) I love my office
3) A New Beginning
4) Lovely Brugge
In the end, i sticked with the above title, coz i think it kinda sum up my feeling for the day. The word Schize is a german word and it comes from a popular phrase here in Antwerp (at least, if not the entire Belgium) - Schize un-der clink! Pardon my spelling (it might not be correct), but generally the phrase means "Sh*t on the doorknot!". Frankly speaking, this is not a true phrase, meaning you can never find this phrase anywhere in the german dictionary or wherever. It is a phrase born from the creativity of the Belgium people. The words "un-der clink" is in fact Flemish (a variant of the Dutch language) and it means on the doorknot and the entire phrase is a mixture of german and dutch (german is the third spoken language here in Belgium). So imagine you just woke up from your bed one day, and when you tries to open the door and you find a whole pile of sh*t on your doorknot - you will be going "SCHIZE UN-DER CLINK!!!" as well...
Anyway I was just back from dinner at an italian restaurant (tot should pamper myself once in a while - and i suddenly have a craving for hot melted cheese), and it has just started to rain. Although hey, it should rain once in a while, there's nothing wrong with raining, but apparently it has being raining the whole day, AT the WRONG time. It rained in the morning when i was cycling to the office (more on that below), and rained in the afternoon when i just got my vietnamese nasi goreng at the flea market (the only place where i can find cheap -european terms- asian food) and was thinking of doing some shopping in the city, and finally when I had just finished my dinner and just stepped out of the restaurant. I mean, it rained exactly at the time I was about to do something outdoors. Maybe it's just me being cranky, but how about a bit of snow instead? It's always snowing in the television back in Singapore whenever there's news about Europe.
3 more weeks and I will be going back to the motherland - hey time to take things easy, relac and live life at a slower pace now. But no, you have to submit your test documents next week because there has being a change of plans and now we need those documents. Okayyy. So back to my 2nd home. You know how people used to say that the office is their 2nd home? I will second that here. The office IS my 2nd home...coz that is where i be leeching off the free internet and watching\downloading my videos and keeping in touch with friends and making a few free overseas phone calls and working out my documents in the midst of all that activity. It's sad but that's all about to change real soon.
Friday was a special day for the company and perhaps for some of the staff here. It's the first day of the Alcatel-Lucent merger, and to celebrate the first day, we have free fruit juices and sandwiches for everyone in the morning, and more sandwiches and champagne in the afternoon, following the President's speech! Wow...how much better can it get? The hard fact is by the time i reach office at 8 am (the earliest time for quite a while), there was already a crowd in the lobby area and strange enuf, I can't seem to find the fruit juice stand. By the time the guys came talking to me with a bottle in their hand, all the fruit juices have already being handed out. Even the coffee makers have run out of water for the coffee. And the sandwiches are really just bread with a piece of cheese in between. And if you really wanted the champagne, please be at the local Zoo at 3pm to 5pm, and we will have a toast to the new company. I think i'll skip that part, dun get me wrong, just too busy with work. A toast to the new company!
